what plants hate lime?

Answers

Rhododendrons, skimmias, callunas (summer flowering heathers), pieris, blueberries for starters. I seem to remember that potatoes don't like it either as it can give them scab, but that's just a vague thing at the back of my mind.

Neither of those plants are hardy in the UK. Both Musa (bananas) and Strelitzias (Bird of Paradise) need a loam-based compost.

Both need a pH between 6.8 and 7.5 for optimum growth, Tengered. That may mean adding lime to some soil-based potting composts.
