cosmos - i grew cosmos last year and collected a lot of seed which i made sure was dry, before storing in an envelope over winter in a dark cool place. I sowed 2 packets of shop bought packet seeds of cosmos a few weeks ago, along with my collected seed, but i have had very little germination with the collected seed. The packets seeds on the other hand have all germinated very well. Did i do something wrong with the seeds i collected? thanks

The seed may not have been viable when you collected it Tilly.

Or may have died over winter. The best way to keep saved seed is in a plastic tub with a tight fitting lid in the fridge.

Normally, i have left them to self seed and always seem to germinate, give them a while longer just to see.julien
