Have only grown cycads in Glasshouses.

Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) might work in the landscape in the southwest of the British Isles, with the Japanese method of protecting them from frost. It would probably be better as an indoor/outdoor plant in most of the UK, though, and other species would be even more sensitive.

As you are in Yorkshire, I would only have it outside in a pot from June to September. Otherwise you'll lose the other 50%!!

No Cycad, Cycas revoluta included, is hardy outdoors here in the UK, sadly. I would agree entirely with Volunteer!

Have learned my lesson....buying bargain plants usually turns out to be anything but! I see something, feel sorry for it, imagine I can nurse it back to health, plant it, feed and water it and then watch it 'pass away' either days or weeks later.Now I buy only the very healthiest of plants, however, good luck to you up there in Yorkshire, perhaps you have 'healing hands'.

Thanks for your comments everyone. I have decided to plant it out in a few weeks time and 'give it a go'. The thing is very prickly though!! I will post a picture of it. I am going to make a mini greenhouse, or large cloche to protect it from the cold, until it becomes established.
