I find 2 applications a year work well, applied in May and again 6 weeks later any that escape or grow after this I find a spot killer works well.

Hi
Dandelions are near on impossible to get rid of with weedkillers or weed and feed products at this time of year as they are young and healthy and rarely take the poison all the way down to their roots. The only sure fire way to get rid of them now is to physicaly remove them.
The best time to spray is in the autumn when they are weaker. This is almost guaranteed to kill them off for good.

Thankyou, I'm looking at a gadget called a "weed hound", it seems to me that they all dandelion roots differ. If they just grew vertically instead of all directions I'm sure it would be easier to uproot them. As Bill & Ben said, "There is no such thing as a weed", cheers..

I've got lots of dandelions in my lawn, because the farm land around at the moment is full of dandelions and farmer does nowt to get rid of them 15 arce field full of them when wind blows we all get them. So i just use a table spoon of salt put in the crown of the dandelion on a dry days this only kills the dandelion after a few weeks, one big on going job, digging them up is the best way put you must get all the root as it will regrow (if i dig mine up i will have to re seed lawn every year)

Our lawn is now covered with dandelions but since noticing that insects love the flowers I have decided to live with them. After all, insects are more important than a perfect lawn.

I'm now the same with my Fig Buttercups, ( Lesser Celandine ), the flowers are lovely so I've decided to live with them also. They die off naturally soon, so will save me the labour.

I find that most of the usual brands of weed and feed work pretty well. I have tried different types and they all seem to do the job.
