My fatsia is dying and I don't know why. The plant has always been strong and grown rapidly in the last 11 yrs standing 7ft tall. Last summer the leaves started going brown from the top, dying then falling of. there are virtually no leaves left but new ones keep trying to grow from the bottom. The top 6 in of each branch are brown and look dead - can anyone tell me why?

Having studied a large Fatsia recently i have to say that the harsh winter has had a telling effect, its a whopping fatsia and virtually all the main growth is dead, however further down there appears to be signs of life, this i have pruned down to and feel confident it will survive.julien.

Hi, I dont have the anser but I am aware that they can suffer root decay, perhaps this could be the cause! Best of luck with it, such a shame for a mature plant to die off like this. Im sure some of the more experienced gardeners here will be able to help you.
