Runner Beans Blue Lake
I have planted some runner beans (in my walk in plastic green house) and they are approximately 3" high. I planted them in the garden a week ago, they seem to be thriving but a couple look as though they are being eaten. There are small holes in the young leaves. What would you suggest I spray them with?

Thank you. I will go out tonight to have a look. But what do I do if I find the little blighter?

If you're lucky, you can grab it and squish it, and that will be an end to the problem! If things aren't that simple, there are iron phosphate granules for snails and slugs, and diatomaceous earth for caterpillars or beetles. Carbaryl or pyrethroids work even better on the latter two, but are more toxic to you, children, or pets. There are a few other organic remedies available in the States, but I understand they aren't available in Europe.

Thank you Tugbrethil.

I would go out at night with a flashlight, and see if I could catch the culprit. Once you know what it is, you have a better chance of giving the right treatment!
