Pyracantha

Do the flowers turn black? If so this could be a bacterial infection called fireblight. The only solutions I have read are to cut it down and plant a resistant variety.
We have one that has gone like this this year but also many of the leaves are pale green instead of the usual colour.
Anyone else out there know more?
