I wish to buy a tree or shrub with good all year round foliage to be kept in a pot on a sunny patio. It needs to be 2-4 metres in height in order to provide privacy. Can you please advise

I'd go for a bamboo, something like Phyllostachys nigra - you'd need a pot 2 feet deep by 12/18 inches wide as a minimum.
