My daughter in law has a serious problem of how to remove a very large eucalyptus tree.It started life in an enormous plastic barrel which they sunk into a raised bed.Unfortunately over the years it had forced its roots out of the pot and into the ground and has basically took over the bed.My son has drilled a large hole into the massive stem after they had cut it down and then tried to break the root up so that they could remove it ,but to no avail.Any suggestions please as they want to remove it without poisening the ground for future use.

On plant Thanks drc726 for your reply I will pass this on to my son

You could cut it off near to the ground and apply stump killer to stop further growth or if you really dont want to be left with a stump you could hire a stumpgrinder to get rid of the stump this can be expensive and you need a wide access for the machine.
