winter pruning for conference pear

thanks to all the people who answered my last question i have one more.i have heard that i need to prune my newly planted tree and dont have a clue how to go about it.can anyone help? thanks

It is just like an apple tree Chopper. Prune in deep winter (Dec - Feb). If this is your first prune then cut about a third of last years growth off. If you want to cordon it then now is the time to start. If you want to limit it's height then cut off the growing tip. There are loads of sites on the web that will cover this in more detail than we can on here.
This site is about apples but is very comprehensive (several pages) and is also good for pears.
