Cherry Laurel

I have a row of laurels, approx 20, which were planted last year. Unfortunately the majority of the leaves have now turned yellow and are falling off. Even the new growth, eventually turn yellow too. Some, not all, have shot hole. Very unsightly, huge expense. Any suggestions?

Also, what kind of Laurel? There are several different plants called that. Of course, a picture would solve that, too.

Thanks to Bamboo & Tugbrethil, I have replied to them individually.... But if anyone else can help it would be appreciated.

Have responded by PM, although it would have been better for everybody (more informative) to do it publicly, but want to add one more query - what is the difference between where your neighbours have successfully planted a Prunus hedge, and where you've planted yours, in terms of soil, aspect, wind direction, and management/treatment?

Yes indeed, the devil is in the details. My first suspects would too much shade, soil that is too shallow, or soil that is poisoned, though there are many other possibilities.

Any chance of a photograph? And what part of the country are you in?
