Could someone please suggest an evergreen plant that flowers and grows about 6 foot tall. It will be used as a screen in the garden round a secret area for children and perhaps allow a bit of visibility through.

Viburnum tinus grows to approximately 6 feet tall is evergreen and has masses of flowers in late winter/early spring.
There are a number of ceanotus that grow to 6 feet and have lovely shiny green foliage with blue flowewrs in spring.

Julien, all of the Phyllostachys species of bamboo are rhizomatous. There are species of Fargesia that are probably better for that.

Yes agreed, but i was stating the fact that, a clumper is far better than a runner system, which can be a problem with runners and new shoots appearing all over the place, and can be a real problem, julien.

Why not choose Bamboo Phyloastachy Aurea, clump forming, this will give youvisibility through the Bamboo, but avoid the bamboo with a rhizomatous system, Julien.
