Is there any product I can treat a lawn with to get rid of weeds (mostly dandilions) & some moss, that will not poison our 2 guinea pigs who graze on it? We would be able to do a section of grass at a time, if ANY of the weed killing products became 'safe' to pets after a set time period. We rotate the guinea pigs around the lawn anyway, but the dandelions are out of control in some parts. So much so, that grass does not grow in these areas anymore. Can you help? Fiona

I would be very surprised if the grass would be safe to eat by any herbivore after treatment with weed and feed.
Most weed and feed instructions suggest not putting the grass cuttings into council comost systems for a considerable time after use.

I agree, I don't think you can use any weed and feed type product is your guinea pigs are going to be eatting the grass afterwards.

You could, use a lawn feed/weed ie, evergeen lawn treatment from garden/diy shops, verdone is good for killing perrenial weeds, just spray on selected weeds eg, dandelions, however, please read instuctions on these before applying because of your guinea pigs, they may have help line you can ring.julien.
