Hello again----would it be O.K to transplant a couple of Cotoneaster 'horizontalis' from the ground in to tubs

I can't see a problem with that, provided you take a big enough root ball and keep them watered. I don't think they're attractive enough to warrant being put under close scrutiny in containers though. Cotoneaster horizontalis is tough, but not all that lovely IMHO.
