These pretty plants have appeared this year after having new topsoil last year. Anyone know what they are and if they're benign. I am assuming they are the same family. Thanks:-)

the other looks like red campion I think.. the red is annual and the white i think is a rarer biennial-- they're very pretty, If you want to keep just a few remove the seed heads bfore they set

Hello Bornagain, they are both campion, i have the red/pink in my garden, Silene dioca, and the white one Silene uniflora, julien.

I'm not sure if the pink is perennial or not as they are a wild flower in my field I leave them as the're lovely and attractive to birds & insects-- theres a pink near the gate thats been there for years--- I'd remove some of the seed heads just in case....

The top one is the white form of Red Campion, but cannot really see enough detail on the others to be positive.
