It has only rained once since February here and I have noticed that although some plants are flowering early and well some are bolting and setting seed such as Erysimum perennial wallflower especially the younger ones. I assume its the prolonged early drought? I have cut all the seeded stems off, but any help on this would be gratefully received many thanks Denise.

It isn't the drought that is causing the early seeding so much as it is the heat. The plants/shrubs/trees think it is much later in the year than it actually is and go into 'time to produce seed' mode. Climate changing is going to really affect our gardens and what we can grow in them.

Thanks MG that explains it. Its so sad to think the quintessential British garden will alter so much.

If the cold winters continue it'll require a major rethink! Mostly along the lines of winter storage areas and pots.
But that is negative.......

Well Drc we will all have to think about creating shade and growing in a different way... climate change is already happening and isn't about to stop.

Prolonged drought and heat dont make gardening a pleasure, I hope we dont end up with swimming pools and a covered patio.
