Yes - eventually it'll need a very large pot, at least 2 feet deep by 16 inches wide, and you must prune it rigorously to keep it within bounds.

Yes that would be fine. I grow mine in a pot similar size to the one Bamboo describes. My husband made a frame from canes for it to climb up, an idea we saw in a garden centre. I keep it well pruned and fed in the growing season and its doing fine. There is a pic in my photos if you are interested.
