Any idea what this lovely tree could be? Seen in a garden on the Greek island of Rhodes in May. Thanks!

I wonder if this is a Indigofera ?

Doesn't look like Indigofera to me, the leaflets are too long. It also appears to be a tall tree, though its hard to say from the pics

Thanks Bamboo. No pic of the bark, sorry: that would have been a good idea. It was about 12 ft tall . . . definitely not Indigofera as I have that shrub in a pot in my garden, but I can see what you mean, Drc, as the leaves are similar, but those on the tree much bigger.

My 2 are over 20ft Bamboo - they grow too fast as trees and are prone to splitting but they always recover. Though you are right the leaf isnt right.

Could it be an Albizia Julibrissin Ombrella - a silk tree. I thought at first it looked like an Acacia Tree - mimosa - but came on this other one from Flora select.

Wow Scotsgran! What a wonderful tongue-twister . . . I will Google it, thanks. (I THINK Acacia is a bit more feathery, but it's certainly similar.)

It's so difficult to tell from a photo, isn't it, but on Google the Albizia leaves look slightly toothed, which this isn't. So maybe a variety of mimosa after all.
Just realised - I can try asking the owners of the little villa where we stayed - doh . . .

I like these puzzles. And I really enjoy hearing the answers. Apparently Acacia and Abrizia are both types of mimosa.

Don't suppose you've got a pic of the bark and bole of the tree?
