what is the best thing to do with spent daffodils---- was told to use rubber band and tie them---------any thoughts

If you want any flowers next year, the rules are, leave the leaves in place, not tied up with a rubber band or anything else, for a minimum of six weeks once the flowers have finished, preferably keeping them well fed and watered during this time. After that, you can cut the leaves off at the base and dispose of them.

Well, you could always just leave them to shrivel away on their own, that's fine too...

We let the leaves of our daffodils die back into the soil, helps to feed it.
