Can anyone please tell me the name of this plant. It has a dark red stem and leaves and the leaves have figuring on them. It dies off in winter and re-appears in spring at a very fast pace. Need to cut it back at least 4 times in the summer or it will take over. It is quite easy to propgate too - mine came from just a tiny cutting. Just stick a pice in the ground and away it goes. Would love to know th name of it though.Very pretty though

Yes, it's a tall upright perennial grown for the rich colouring.
I'd try letting it do what it wants to do rather than keeping it pruned and restricted, grow it with silvery coloured or gold coloured foliage and it'll look stunning.

I know it as Persicaria 'red dragon'. It may have been re named since I bought mine 15 yrs ago.
