Are you asking about starting from seed? If you read the instructions on a seed packet, they do need quite high temps. in a propagator to get them to germinate, then you've got to prick them out and so on...
If you are talking about bringing this year's plants in, then try it! I have a New Guinea hybrid one in a pot and it's still happy and flowering well in a well-lit place..
