Hi, I planted 2 types of poppies at the start of the month (royal wedding, and a black one) The royal wedding poppies are 5 inches high now and the black ones are 10/12 inches high. Will they flower this year?
(new to this and only just starting to develop my confidence with gardening)
Thank you
Emma

If they are oriental poppies, they might wait bloom until next year.

Brilliant, thank you both of you, I'll keep an eye on them and have a closer look at the foliage - they didn't come with labels as I bought them from my local nursery.
Thank you :)

I think the Royal Wedding poppies are white, they haven't bloomed yet though, I have a photo of them so far in my photo section.
I have those yellow ones too, they're gorgeous! I also have red, black, purple and blue, but the purple and blue are tiny seedlings so won't be able to see them in full glory till next year i should imagine. I'm not sure about all of this, I just put the seeds in and hoped for the best, hope I've done it right! :o) I love poppies too!

Oh lovely. I have seen them before, very beautiful. My black poppies look like they're going to flower soon, will post a photo when they do. :o)

My poppies haven't flowered yet. I have established and new ones. I can see the buds down inside the foliage just about ready to sprout up.
