Hello! I planted around 30 beautiful dahlia plants from pots about 2 weeks ago and the slugs have been all over them eating the leaves, the new shoots, and the stalks - is it to late to save them?? All the labels say they should grow 1m tall - and now I am really disheartened, as I am getting the garden ready for a party in mid July!! What do I do about the slugs and is there still hope????

I have given up trying to grow dahlias for the same reason. Slug pellets are your only hope. There are some safe for pets and birds but they are less effective. If you use the stronger ones try to make sure that animals and birs don't have access to the dead slugs.

Previous question
How much of the plants are left? I think the answer is to use slug pellets to stop more damage, and wait and see if the Dahlias recover. I'd have a back-up plan, though, in case they don't.
