whatg would you suggest planting on a north facing wall

Answers

Have a look at Hydrangea Petiolaris. It does well on a north facing wall.

Clematis 'Nellie Moser' will actually grow there too! The colour of the flowers doesn't fade as much as it would in the sun.

Some of the small flowered blue clematis will grow there and look great teamed with a yellow climbing rose. There are a couple which do well on a north wall - sorry I can't remember the variety. You can also grow morello cherry in that position.

Agree with inverglen, H, petiolaris, also Akebia does well in this situation, julien.

You could have been looking into my garden Steragram - I have a yellow climber and aquilegia. I also have 3 hostas which love the shade there and are huge. The space is very small but it all seems to grow well against the north facing wall.
