i would like a shrub to go in my front garden,but it is a raised part open to the wind so need something that could stand up to the hardest weather,any suggestions? thanks

Rhododendrons only thrive in acid soil, so you'd need to know what yours is.

Sea buckthorn (Hippophae) are very hardy, silver grey foliage and orange berries and great around the coast, or what about Senecio, Hydrangea, Grisellinia, Eleagnus, or Viburnum - depending on aspect and conditions!
