I have a huge rosemary bush in a large pot and soem mint growing in the garden.
One of my elderly neighbours always asks for a sprig now and again, so I sent took her a bunch. I was going to try and root her some rosemary, but she has nowhere to put it.
Another neighbour asked for a sprig and is interested in starting a herb garden, and I said taht I would try rooting soem rosemary and mint for her. she has asked me to look aftre them for now until she gets the bed ready and they have rooted.
My questions are:
Will the rosemary and mint root? ( I have dipped them in water then rooting powder.)
If so, how long will it be before they can be planted out in t her garden? (They are in pots.)
Any advice welcome
Thanks in advance.

Mint won't need rooting compound at all.If you pull a bit up there will be roots there and just pot it up and keep it damp it should take very quickly.
Rosemary will take quite easily too. Take off a new shoot and strip off the bottom two thirds of leaves. Make up a pot of free draining compost and put the cuttings around the edge of the pot. Water and stand in a cold frame. they should take within 6-8 weeks and you can grow them on until next year when they can be planted out if big enough. Keep an eye on them tho, make sure they don't get too dry or wet.

Thanks for the advice.

Rosemary should be done by semi ripe cuttings grown in a cold frame, then potted up next year. The mint is much easier - if you can get a piece with a bit of root attached and pot that up, it will grow almost immediately.
