Moss

Hi I want to use moss as the base for my garden which I have just finished. It is fairly damp and there is some moss about; it was a big problem then I had a lawn. Con I buy moss anywhere? Does anyone have any suggestions? I am only just starting to venture into gardening so am a real novice at this.

If you've got the time and inclination to keep it under control what about Soleirolia soleirolii? Very invasive but always green.

Hi I have always been fascinated by MOSS and my lawn is more MOSS than anything else, A lovely cushion to walk on. I have purchased a book MOSS GARDENING by GEORGE SCHENK. published by Timber Press. Possibly second hand from Amazon. It will make you want to turn the whole garden into a Mossy world..I don't know of anyone who sells it, but really all you have to do is crumble up existing pieces and keep them moist in a new situation

Click on Lori's 'related photo' at the bottom of this page. She explains how she got moss growing in her garden.
Don't forget that it won't grow in sunny places, only damp shady areas.
Good luck.
