I found a small plant growing in my garden, I potted it up in a pot and it is a bussylizzie, but it has a massive stem and has grown about 5 feet tall, buds have started to appear but not opened yet, is this normal?

Thanks, but I think we'd need confirmation from Alanpubman before opening the champagne - or the Roundup, depending on your point of view. :-?

If it is Himalayan balsam, and it sounds just like it, then don't let it seed!! You'll be over-run with it! Up here in the Lake District the National Trust are trying to get rid of it all as it is so invasive!! It's common name is 'Touch me not' because if you touch the seed heads when ripe, they explode all over the place. Be warned Alan. Annie

I have never seen a 5ft. Impatiens. Put on a photo and you will soon get an answer to what it is.
