i have chillies and pepper plants bu got them all mixed up how do i tell the difference between them? and do i have to take any of the side shoots off them?

Sweet Bell Peppers are likely to have the largest and smoothest leaves of the batch, though some of the larger New Mexican chilis can be hard to distinguish from them.

Hi Cdawn,
I would say don't remove any healthy growth, let them grow and look for flowers! Then when the fruits grow and swell, you'll know whether they are chillis or sweet peppers!
