Our Cordyline Australis suffered winter damage like that mentioned - to our surprise two flower heads developed but then subsequently died - now we notice 4/5 new growths sprouting from the base of the tree which is approximately 12ft in height. How do we get these new plants safely away from the base to propagate. Our advice to other is therefore leave it a bit and watch the base and see !

I'd cut down the 12' trunk to just above the new growth to tidy things up, if you haven't already.

General advice is that unless you can get some root as well, leave the growths on.
