I have recently purchased osteospermum plants and potted them in a deep pot in a very sunny position They were well opened in the garden centre but have had them for 2 weeks now and they have been tightly closed Why wont they open?

I think you have put to many in? I only put 1 in a pot that size. They have opened and the closed in the centre you need to dead head. keep well watered feed weekly and keep in full sun to open the flowers my Gazanias! close up as soon as the sun goes.

Many of those closed flowers are too old to open, and need to be dead headed.

Hi Jackson, these are Gazanias, not osteospermums. You'll find they only open in full sun. As the flowers die off you need to dead head them to keep more flowers coming.
I don't know if you've had the heatwave some people have had, but if the weather's overcast they don't open.
