i bought a iceburge rose from a good nursery two days ago. left it in shade and water. yesterday we set it , late at night after heat of day, with plenty more water etc. looked brilliant and all flowers bright and upright etc. This morning it was limp and all droopy, not at all a happy rose! any ideas any one why this has happened.

When you took it out of the pot, did a lot of soil fall off the roots, or did you rough up the rootball pretty severely? The latter is often recommended in planting instructions, but can backfire in hot, dry weather. If either is true, I would prune the top enough to remove about 1/3 to 1/2 of the foliage, and use a strong root stimulator.

It may well be that you watered the base of the plant, but the surrounding soil was on the dry side and sucked up all the water. I would suggest you don't prune it yet, but you could ring the nursery and ask them their advice. They may say they'll change it.

More water! How is it today, Amberqueen?

Most probably you broke the root ball when you planted it. If that is the case, it will eventually recover but it will take some time. Keep it well watered.

« have put ant powder on to a new rhubarb plant. have l contaminated it?
It may take a few days to recover in these temps. Have you put it into soil or a larger pot and what sort of soil/potting compost did you use. Also have you put some Top rose onto it, to help it have a 2nd flowering????
