If your Acer is planted in the ground it shouldn't need feeding as such, mulch with bark if the have any.

As Acers are said to prefere an acid soil. An ericaceous feed would be preferable to the more usual plantfood. Erica is heather I think. Used to feed Azalias and Camellias, conifers etc. So has several uses.
