Can anyone tell me the name of this lovely shrub? It has clumps of white flowers in Spring When and how should it be pruned and should it be dead headed when flowers die off?

The only other one I can think of is Deutzia except that the leaves don't look quite right for that. In any case, it would probably benefit from a bit of a prune about now if it's spring flowering. I would take the flowered stems down by about a third and prune out any very old stems from the bottom - as you would a philadelphus. Hope this helps and doesn't hinder!

All that new growth in the picture will flower all along its length next spring so don't prune it. Only prune immediately after flowers have finished.
