About me
After travelling around the world for 25 years with my husband, we put down some roots in 2006, and bought our current house which is about 12 miles outside of Brussels. Apart from my husband I also live with two 14 year old rescue cats – Harpo and Chico. Unfortunately, in February 2007 Chico was diagnosed with diabetes and was given only a few months to live because he was so sick. However, with a lot of TLC (and expense!) here he is in 2011 still with us, catching mice and chasing bugs. However, he has to have twice monthly visits to the vet to have his blood sugar levels monitored and we have to give him twice daily insulin injections.
Whilst it is evident that I have made many mistakes in my new garden I love it and am always learning both in design and horticulture. I certainly wouldn’t be without my RHS and Expert books!
Apart from my new love of gardening, I am a keen (albeit not very good) golfer and as you can imagine there is quit a conflict of interest during the summer months! During the winter I like to embroider; usually following a Helen Stevens flower or wild-life design which I work in either filament silk or twisted silk, depending on the state of my hands!
I am also researching my family history but so far haven’t found anyone famous or any black sheep come to that. Despite being a Derbyshire lass I have discovered that I have Scottish roots - although he ended up in Corfu. Perhaps that’s where my wanderlust comes from.
