Hi , I have planted a Astible and the leaves have started to shrivel up and die. The plant does not look healthy at all, it is planted in shade. This is the second time this is happening to me as I have planted one before because have read they are hardy and easy to grow, Please help before its to late to recover.

They prefer quite damp soil, almost boggy so perhaps yours is in too dry a position.

I agree - it sounds like the position is too dry for it. Although the plant will now die back, if it is put into a wetter position, it will grow next year

Astilbes do like alot of water.

If you do not have a damp position try digging it up and mixing lots of gel crystals with the soil. You will still have to water it but not nearly as often.

How do I say thanks?
