About 3 years ago I was given a little foxglove tree, grown from seed by a friend. The first year it was amazing, huge leaves like dinner plates. The last two years it has grown to about 2' and has tiny leaves. I planted roses around it 2 years ago - is that the problem?

Thanks Seaburngirl - I suspected as much. The roses are not great so I think they can go somewhere else.Shall I dig them up now, or wait until Autumn do you think?

I would sacrifice the roses too - it's a tremendous tree!
I've just checked my seeds and one has germinated!!!

Well if there's a chance that the tree might perk up this late then the roses can go. Thanks Meanie, good luck with yours.

I suspect the answer is yes. The roses are competeing for water and nutrients in the soil so the tree is 'suffering'. remove the roses or the tree and I think it will perk up.
