we have tall evergreen trees and someone recently cut branchess from the bottom,which now looks really bad.Anything we can do to make it look better andd will the branches grow again?

A picture would be helpful. Evergreens can be made into topiary quite easily - so the removal of branches can be made to look better than it is and look intentional. Would have to see the tree first to see if you can do this.

Evergreen trees like yew will regenerate to a certain extent but perhaps youcould grow tall woodland plants like digitalis under the tree. Or a shrub rose would look good and tolerate the dry shade once established.

They won't grow again, Jagrai. I'd say plant something at the base of the trees to hide the bare trunks - but it's a difficult position, in dry shade. I think your best bet would be Ivies. They'd soon climb up and look good if you choose ones you like - there are variegated ones, which you might prefer to plain green.
Check the vigour of the plants, though - you don't want to swamp the trees.
