Sorry to have to disagree with you, Kenny, but 12 midday GMT is when sun is due south, which is 1p.m. BST just now.

I asked a question very similar to this last year and Bamboo gave a good answer which if I've got it right is...get a compass ...stand facing the direction your garden is facing...and whatever the compass reads is the direction the garden is facing. For example if I stand on my front doorstep looking to my front gate, with my back to the house, the compass reads South East, so my garden faces South East....hope that helps

google maps earth view zoom in on your house and use the on screen compass

If you have an Iphone, there's a compass app for that if you have no compass. Otherwise, simple observation. Stand in the garden, back against the wall, facing the garden (so its in front of you) on a sunny morning, preferably early (8 o'clock, say) and see where the sun is - that'll be east. Now face the sun's position, east, by turning towards it if you have to - directly behind you will be west, to your right, south, and to your left, north. From that you should be able to tell which way your garden faces.

« I moved my goosebery bush and it now looks a little sad any tips please.
If you bear in mind the sun rises in the east, does this give you an idea?
