Sorry guys, me again. I set 8 potatoes ( 4 arran pilot and 4 home guard about 3.5 months ago and decided to get them up today. I cut the tops off them all and chopped them up to go in the compost bin.
I dug up the first 4 and there were loads of huge spuds ! Not like last year when they were over 4 ft high but nothing underneath.
The question is - should I leave the rest underground or dig them up to store them ? Those I have so far will last the 5 of us ages.

Hi Hank, both of the potato varieties you have grown are first early potatoes and should be lifted as need as they will not store for more than a week. We just lift one root at a time use and then lift the next one. Delighted to know you've actually got potatoes this year, our crop is good too with, in most cases, enough potatoes from one root for at least two if not three meals.

Having had a second look at your reply I think you've already answered this question. Leave them in situ.

Yup let the sit where they a until you need them... 'Hen' would be fine down Glasgow way try 'quine' up here... lol

I learn something new every day ! But you should have told me how to pronounce quine: To show off my linguistic skills the other day to a nearby Scottish lady I mentioned the word " queen" and she told me it should have been pronounced " kwiney".
Now I'll take my baffs off and go out to do a bit of weeding.

Kwine not 'y' where we live - though right now we are in Yorkshire visiting family! Lads are called 'loons' pronounced as it is written! But you would only use this terms to someone of less than 20... 'fit like loon' would mean 'how are you lad'

Gets complicated doesn't it ? baffs, not baffies, Kwine not kwiney, and a guy from Newcastle used to ask "what fettle"? Instead of " fit like loon." For how are you. Just depends where you live.
Not to mention hanes, haulms and I've forgotten the other one already ! ( shaws ?)
