My daughter recently brought me a bag of plums that her boss had given to her - coals to Newcastle, I thought, as I have two plum trees, until I saw them. They were a very dark red, the same size as cherry tomatoes and had a wonderful flavour. They also cooked well. Problem is, her boss has no idea what they are - the tree was there when he bought the house and I've been looking for them ever since. Someone suggested they might be Mirabells, but they are the wrong colour. Has anybody got any suggestions?

Most damsons are no where near ripe in July though.

Prunus cerasifera variety, maybe?

They may be Damsons at a guess.
A photo would help!
