acer problems

I have an acer garnet & acer sango-kaku within the last 2 week all the leaves have dropped. Thay are both in large free draining containers with no obvious sign of insect attack and have been for the last 4/5 years. I live in Lancaster.Lanchashire.

Lack of water is the most likely cause unless you have moved them recently. Are they in ericaceous compost and do you feed them?
