I was going to grow larkspur from seed in pots but have been told they are very difficult to transplant. Why?
Would I be OK with peat pots?

Grow them in modules, starting with small ones and one or two seeds in each. Transplant them into bigger pots gently, harden them off and plant out.

That is because you break the tap roots. Sow in March or April where you wish them to flower.
For the best results leave out the peat pots.
