Help with identification please! This rather
stately looking shrub was seen at Denman's Garden near
in the South of England. Any advice on what it is would be very appreciated.

It couldn't be some form of chestnut could it? There are lots of different ones. The flowers are also rather spindly for that also. How tall was it, and what was the spread? The photo doesn't really give a good impression of size. Annie

I think it might be a Rodgersia. Not sure which one though - the flower spikes are rather long and thin for any I can think of.
