My neighbours clematis has turned a corner and is now entangled with my ivy which I am trying to train up the side of the garage Do u think they will be ok together or will one take over?

In a fight like that, the ivy will win the day - but if its growing on your garage wall, then you have every right to clip the clematis back to the boundary line between your houses.
