My Azaelias which flower beautifully every year have a sort of hard moss growing all over the stems and branches. Is this harmful and if so how can I get rid of it. Thank you

Could just be lichen, which is harmless, and can be gently washed off if you don't like the look of it with horticultural soap and water.
