hi i have a very young acer inmy garden in a corner sheltered from the wind when is the best time to move it

Hopefully you will have another sheltered spot to move it to. If it is really very young I would keep it in a pot until it gets a bit bigger if its happy where it is.

or early spring before things start growing . you have 2 windows of opertunity and there are plusses and minusses to both times .

October and make sure you have prepared the spot you are moving it to prior to lifting make sure you get a really big root ball and be prepared to keep well watered to allow the roots to reestablish.
