In amongst my courgette, tomato and pepper plants I have one "rogue" plant which has similarities but isn't a courgette and does have such big leaves. Its leaves are symmetrical ,not hairy, 7 or 8 points, come off an upright stem ( quite thick), the leaves have faint black spots or freckles. The flower is initially surrounded by a closed bell-shaped sepal, is lilac in colour, only lasts for a day and is about 3-4 centimetres in diameter.

Great - pity it's only an annual though. Thanks for the identification.

You're welcome. You could always save some seed and grow some more next year. They seem to be great "pop-up artists" & arrive unexpectedly here and there.
