Hello, Any tips on growing miniature roses anyone?

Its maybe abit premature yet, but was thinking of planting miniature roses in my window boxes this year, and as they are expensive, id like to know as an amateur any expert advice or tips on planting, pruning etc, or indeed if they would be even viable for window boxes! Would they last long, and could anyone recommend one with lots of flowers, and most important a nice scent! Thanks!

Mini roses are good for a couple of years but the main problem is keeping them well watered and fed. They would prefer a soil-based compost but that might be too heavy for your window box supports. Watch out for aphids and they could get blackspot if other roses nearby have it. Prune them back lightly in winter to keep them in a good shape, deadheading will also act as a light 'prune'. Some of the County series ( Kent, Sussex etc) might be good but are larger than than the really mini ones that you buy as pot plants. You could use just 2 or 3 and intersperse them with other bedding of your choice to save on cost.
