Can anyone tell me the name of this plant. It was growing in the garden last year, I dug it up and put it in a pot. It's now twice the size it was. Any ideas????

I think someone came in the night and instead of stealing plants .... they planted this one instead. Thanks both of you for identifying the plant for me.

It's a hedychium of some sort. It would be happier back in the garden as it spreads by rhizomes
